One of our current Artists in Residence is DONNA DAVIS. Donna grew up drawing, painting and creating, but when she took her first watercolor class in 1979, she was hooked. The beauty and transparency of watercolor drew her attention and the challenge kept her painting.

Donna has a long history of sharing her love of arts with others. She has taught adult’s and children’s art classes, privately and through programs at the recreation department and the local community college. She has taught several watercolor classes at The Red House since she joined in 2015.

In her current work as an AIR, she enjoys welcoming visitors to The Red House, answering questions about the numerous classes, workshops, groups and events sponsored by the Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League. She also delights in sharing her knowledge of watercolor with visitors and fellow artists alike who visit her shared studio.

Our other artist in Residence is RUTH DUCKWORTH a brilliant fiber artist with a long and diverse history of hand dyeing, quilting, spinning, weaving and now her credit. Having traveled the globe, Ruth’s work is informed by a host of other cultures. Corsica is one spot in particular where Ruth learned specifics about fiber arts from local people. Ruth will be hosting a workshop on felting this summer. Details will be coming soon!

Stop in to say hello to RUTH and DONNA when you visit the RED HOUSE STUDIOS AND GALLERIES.
