Karen Paquette has had a lifelong passion for creativity. Her broad artistic explorations have included ceramics, papermaking and weaving. Currently she is painting on canvas, and incorporating found bits of paper, leaves and other objects into the surface. Karen builds an image with layers of pigment, working to achieve a balance between complex color and rich texture. She says she “celebrates the art of imperfection” and notes that rarely does an image end up where she thought it would when she began. The layering Karen works with results in evocative images that ask the viewer to explore what lies beneath the surface. The more time spent looking at these paintings, the more you find to see.
