Marcia Dockey Smith’s realistically presented subjects speak of Native American cultures and the bond between the spirit of Mother Nature and her human inhabitants. Using oils and watercolors, Marcia paints from photographs she takes of friends, and people, at Pow-wows and other events. Marcia loves depicting the human form, and that combined with her mastery of drawing, allows her to create visually intense stories. She captures a subject’s specific gaze, motion or pose, and adds meticulous details that often reflect life from the past. Beautifully rendered landscapes and wildlife add context to Marcia’s narratives, and elements of fantasy art are at times added to her creative mix.
