Nancy Hoopes has been fascinated with dancing color since she was a young woman. She uses her camera to capture light, refracted through everyday objects, and then scattered in abstract arrays of crystalline colors on walls or other items. These momentary displays challenge Nancy to be aware of visual gifts in unexpected places. A traffic jam is a chance to capture the dance of raindrops on pavement, and a glass of wine can become a rainbow celebration. Nancy’s unusually rich, pigment saturated photographic prints are velvet like swaths of lush color. The viewer can wonder at the origin of the abstract passages of light, or simply wander through their beauty.
