POWER OF LINE - Entry Guidelines
A most basic element of design is line. Artistic line is defined as “of or relating to the characteristics of a work of art in which forms and rhythms are defined chiefly in terms of line.” For this show, line is to be your dominant element of design. Does your drawing feature strong lines? Does your pottery or sculpture show the dominance of line? What type of lines does your 2D artwork use — straight, curved, diagonal, fluid? Each piece needs to incorporate distinct lines in the finished piece. At first glance, the viewer should observe lines above everything else. All other elements should support the lines.

For Ideas Google:  Alfred Stieglitz — Spring Showers 1900,   August Macke — Bright Shop Window,   Rockwood Pottery,   Paul Serusier — Still Life by a Window,   Van Gogh — Butterflies and Poppies,   Alexander Calder — Five Swords,   Picasso — Figure Drawings
